The Journey to Healing and Hearing God’s Voice

Two Christian women business podcasters looking at each other and talking about healing and hearing God's voice in your business.

Welcome to today’s episode of our Christian Business podcast, a must-listen for those seeking inspiring content from Christian podcasts for women and women in business podcasts. Following a very painful situation in our church,  much like Lisa discussed last week, I (Sarah) experienced a deafening silence from God.Today, I want to share the steps that have helped me hear God again. It’s a process filled with mistakes, but there’s abundant grace, but there is a journey to healing and hearing God’s voice.

Set Yourself Up to Hear

First, you need to set yourself up to hear from God. Just as you can’t have an intimate conversation at a rock concert, you must create the right environment to hear His voice. I found solace in Priscilla Shrier’s “Armor of God” Bible study, learning to lean on the faith of others when my own was weak. Counseling and spiritual direction have been invaluable, alongside solitary walks in nature, free from distractions.

Reading the Bible, even when it feels like a chore, has kept me connected. I struggle with attending church, but I still go and fellowship with other believers. Prayer and journaling are my anchors, and listening to podcasts by theologians and Christian speakers fuels my spirit. In 1 Samuel 3, young Samuel hears God’s call but is confused. May we, like Samuel, have hearts that say, “Speak, for your servant is listening,” even when we don’t fully understand.

Know How He Speaks

Understanding how God speaks is crucial. He communicates through nature, Scripture, prayer, circumstances, and other people. Sometimes, He speaks directly through visions or dreams. David Benner’s “Sacred Companions” offers tools to discern these messages. Listening to God is only half the journey; we must then obey. John 10:27-28 reminds us that His sheep hear His voice and follow Him.

Listen and Obey

Our response to God’s voice is not out of duty, but out of love. As James 1:22-25 says, be doers of the word and not hearers only. God’s silence can be excruciating, but He encourages us to cry out to Him. By turning our hearts toward Him, we position ourselves to hear and obey His guidance. Join us next week as we delve into discerning God’s voice for your life and business, because it all intertwines.
